    Oh, I'm having trouble opening this file with some players, and the only encoders able to process it skip 15 seconds from the beginning. Is the file ok? I got md5 631ede01032bc7a1fe9302510b8d51b5, trying to redownload now from other servers just in case...

    Yeah I was sad to see that trying to re-encode with Handbrake for my iPad resulted in the loss of the first 15 seconds or so :( It's a shame because even after deinterlacing this is by far the best quality source out there.

    Thanks for sharing but it's ultimately a bit unusable.

    Figured out you can use ffmpeg with the prores/alac codecs to convert m2ts to mov and then feed that to handbrake to get the full video. The telecine is quite bad with the colors even after applying filters, but that's a problem with the source.
